Bertha Lopez
Owner
The recipes and the big decisions start with Bertha. She sets the menu, guards the flavors she grew up cooking, and keeps La Joya pointed in the right direction.
About
Mexican home cooking on Leland Ave. Fresh every morning, served by the same people who make it.
Our story
La Joya is a small family operation. The recipes come from home, the coffee is pulled fresh, and the people behind the counter are the same ones who shop the produce, prep the salsas, and open the doors at 7 in the morning.
Our goal is simple. Cook the food we grew up eating, serve it the way we would serve our family, and be a good neighbor on Leland Ave.
The people
A family-run kitchen with a small, steady crew. More faces added as we get their portraits.

Owner, Daily Operations
Bertha's husband and the owner with boots on the ground. Jose runs the day-to-day and oversees both the front of house and the kitchen.
